Jabi Lake Mall board denies authorizing Naira Marley concert

Jabi Lake Mall board has denied authorizing Naira Marley concert, as they expressed shock and disappointment over the development. According to a report by THISDAY, the board condemned the illegal action in the strongest terms, clarifying that the event took against express instructions given to the property manager. According to a source close to the shareholders; “Jabi Lake Mall was built in 2015 with the vision of creating a beautiful lakeside property that allowed the residents of Abuja to shop, relax, network and have fun. The mall was also designed to invigorate the local economy and provide a safe and comfortable location for retailers to sell their goods. “As is typical for large properties like this, the shareholders selected a property manager who was paid to manage the property – Broll Property Services. Broll is one of Africa’s leading commercial property services company with operations in Angola, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Swaziland, South Africa, Uganda and Zambia. They are well known in the industry and we selected them on the basis of their stellar reputation.”The source further disclosed that shareholders were shocked to learn that a middle-level employee of Broll Management Company, for unknown reasons ignored express directives and the laws and regulations of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This employee, it was learnt, took the illegal decision to host the event on the property without informing their superiors at Broll, and the shareholders only found out about this concert after the fact via social media. THISDAY further confirmed that the shareholders have moved swiftly and called an emergency meeting on Sunday and summoned the management company for a meeting on Monday.

i'm surprised Naira Marley has not been arrested

The Chief Executive Officer of Executive Jets Services Limited, Sam Iwuajoku has expressed surprise over the federal government's failure to arrest controversial singer, Naira Marley his crew members for violating the interstate travel ban. .

In an interview with Premium Times, the airline CEO admitted writing the apology letter addressed to the Minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika. He said he wrote the letter which has been trailed by mixed reaction out of anger. .

Iwuajoku also condemned the indiscriminate movement of any form during the Coronavirus pandemic.

He said “Why will anyone be moving around unnecessarily during a pandemic? Moving around for musical concert at this time is ‘unnecessary movement’. I am wondering why they were not even arrested.
. “I have been abused by people who said I referred to them as ‘useless people’ but I don’t care. If you see the truth, say it. Although I said so in anger, that is still my position today.” He reiterated his earlier position of mistaking Naira Marley for Minister of Works, ‘Babatunde Fashola’.

Linking me with Naira Marley flight is ridiculous - Fashola tells Executive Jets Services boss

Former Lagos Governor and current Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has reacted to a letter written by the Chairman of Executive Jets Services, Sam Iwuajoku, apologizing to the Federal Government after his company was banned by the Ministry of Aviation for conveying singer, Naira Marley, to Abuja from Lagos for a concert in violation of COVID-19 guidelines.
According to Fashola he has not travelled out of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, since March 22 so it is ridiculous for him to be linked with the flight that carried the singer.
On Monday, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika had announced the suspension of Executive Jets services during a Presidential Task Force briefing in Abuja, leading the chairman of the company to apologize saying he gave the approval for the flight thinking the passenger was the minister Fashola, as the flight manifesto contained the name Babatunde Fashola, not knowing that is was Naira Marley's brother who also goes by the name Babatunde Fashola.
Reacting in a statement on Tuesday, Fashola’s Special Adviser on Communications, Hakeem Bello, said, “The attention of the Office of the Honourable Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola SAN, has been drawn to a letter signed by the Chairman/CEO of Executive Jets Services Limited, Dr Sam Iwuajoku concerning a flight it operated to Abuja last weekend. “For purposes of clarity and in order to set the records straight, the Hon. Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola SAN, has not travelled out of Abuja since March 22, 2020, when he returned there after an inspection tour of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway construction work and a visit to Lagos, before the lockdown. “The decision of the Hon. Minister not to travel was taken in strict compliance with the Federal Government’s ban on inter-state travels as part of efforts to control the COVID-19 pandemic. “It is therefore ridiculous for Dr Iwuajoku to attempt to link the Hon. Minister with any non-compliant flight.”

Executive Jet Services releases statement on Naira Marley's flight to Abuja

Executive Jets Services has officially released a statement regarding Naira Marley and Kim Oprah flight from Lagos to Abuja. The Federal Government yesterday suspended the airline, Executive Jet Services, for flying Naira Marley to Abuja for a concert.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, during a Presidential Task Force briefing in Abuja.

According to the Minister, the aircraft was approved to convey an Appeal Court Judge, Justice Adefope Okogie, from Lagos to Abuja.

The airline has now reacted to the development in a statement signed by Sam Iwuajoku, the Chairman/CEO of Executive Jet Services.

In the statement, Sam Iwuajoku, stated that he allowed the flight, due to a name misconception. According to him, he felt the name ‘Fashola Babatunde’ was that of the Honorable Minister of Works, and not Naira Marley.

The statement read; “We hereby apologize for the above flight, with your permit rex: FMA/ATMD/0175/V/V/ 1268 dated 11th June. 2020. Please the flight was to carry a Judge to Abuja on Sunday 14th. 2020 as requested and permit was granted based on the application, but unfortunately when I called the Judge on Saturday morning to inform him that we have the permit, he then said that he has reached Abuja already with a different flight that someone gave him a lift to Abuja. So on Saturday morning 13th June, 2020 my staff called me that they have a charter flight to Abuja and that the passengers are already in the lounge as a rule passenger manifest is always sent to me before any departure, when I went through the manifest and I saw FASHOLA BABATUNDE I thought it was the Honorable Minister of Works going to Abuja with his men, so we decided to do the flight since is a serving minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I didn’t know that it was a bunch of useless people.

We are very sorry for this mistake and we promise that this would not happen again. Kindly see attached Passenger Manifest for the flight. Thank you for your understanding.”

COVID-19: FG suspends airline for flying Naira Marley

COVID-19: FG suspends airline for flying Naira Marley

The Federal Government has suspended a charter and aircraft maintenance firm, Executive Jet Services, for flying Musician, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley, to Abuja to attend a concert.

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said this during the Presidential Task Force briefing in Abuja on Monday.

Sirika said the aircraft which conveyed the musician was supposed to fly an Appeal Court Judge, Justice Adefope Okogie, from Lagos to Abuja

He said, “The operation is a clear violation of our approval which we take very seriously. It seems this is becoming a norm. This is the second time. So, Executive Jet Services is hereby suspended indefinitely and they will face the law. “The captain will also be sanctioned for giving wrong information to the control tower. It seems also that people are not tired of trying our resolve and we are not tired of living up to our responsibilities. Governance is a serious matter.”The minister said the government would henceforth be stricter in granting approvals for private flights.

He said, “The person on that flight conducted a concert. We approved a flight, certainly not for a musician. The flight was approved to convey Honourable Justice Adefope Okogie from Lagos to Abuja and then back to Lagos for an official assignment. “In this challenging time, in our wisdom, we decided that the judiciary was part of the essential services. Moving a judge from Lagos to Abuja was in order.”
