I have been following developments closely and i can say this is the most politically motivated appointment ever, the the headquaters of APC moved to Kano since Friday fireworks were expected, it all started earlier today with words going round that the Late Emirs fist son has been chosen, many thought it was Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, because he bears Sanusi also, later today the news finally broke and SLS is now the Emir of Kano

In an announcement made this afternoon by the Kano State government, the former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was picked to replace Alhaji Ado Bayero, who died last Friday. Sanusi was picked ahead of the late emir’s son, Alhaji Lamido Sanusi Ado Bayero, the Chiroman Kano, who was also a firm favourite. There had been rumours all over the media that Bayero was the choice, misleading the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to issue a congratulatory message to him.

Yesterday, the Senate held an investigative meeting over missing crude oil revenue.

In his opening remarks, Ahmed Makarfi, Chairman of the Senate committee on Finance, explained that the meeting was dedicated to the issue of unremitted revenue by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). He recalled that the last hearing in December 2013 was suspended to allow the involved parties to reconcile the figures.

Two ministers [most likely, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Diezani Allison-Madueke] had the permission to be absent due to ill health. Nevertheles, the Committee expects them to appear next week.

Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, CBN Governor, stated that the NNPC shipped $67 billion worth of crude oil, but what came to the CBN after all reconciliation stands at $47 billion.

What a shame that the political class is displaying such immaturity, the current occurrence in the Governors forum underlines the current state of our young democracy, if among 36 Governors they cant take a unified stand on who to chair them, then i wonder how they govern their respective states, well it is good we are seeing such display of greed and selfish interest, they should continue dancing naked, come 2015 we would ensure we elect selfless leaders to rule us, the youths must take a stand and be relevant
