Former Delta state governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, denies collecting contracts from NDDC





Former Delta state governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, has denied claims of being one of the beneficiaries of contracts the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC.

Punch reported earlier today that the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, in his letter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, listed the former governor as one beneficiaries of the contracts awarded by the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC contracts. However, in a statement released Monday morning August 3 by his media aide, Monoyo Edon, Uduaghan denied the allegation, describing it as false. Read his statement below

Akpabio links former Delta state governor, James Ibori and Emmanuel Uduaghan, to some NDDC projects


The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has reportedly linked two former governors of Delta State, James Ibori and Emmanuel Uduaghan, to some of the projects that have been executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission, Punch reports.

Akpabio in a letter sent to the speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, listed the former governors as some of the beneficiaries of the projects by the commission. Also on the list as a beneficiary of projects were the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, and Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, among others.

Akpabio names lawmakers on NDDC contracts’ list



The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, has linked some members of the National Assembly to some contracts awarded by the Niger Delta Development Commission.

Akpabio, however, did not state if the lawmakers were directly awarded the contracts or they nominated the projects under their Zonal Intervention Projects, also known as constituency projects.

The former Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on the NDDC, Mr Nicholas Mutu, who represents the Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency of Delta State, is among those linked by the minister with contracts.

President Buhari has broken his silence concerning the saga playing out at the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC.



A statement from the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, says the President is ''witnessing the unfolding drama, which includes attacks and counter-attacks between and around persons, institutions, and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and has expressed his strong determination to get to the root of the problem undermining the development of the Niger Delta and its peoples in spite of enormous national resources voted year after year for this singular purpose.''

Godswill Akpabio, minister of Niger Delta affairs has denied sexually harassing Joy Nunieh, the former acting managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

In a statement released by his media aide Anietie Ekong on Wednesday July 15, Akpabio denied making sexual advances at the former NDDC Acting MD. The former Governor who wondered why Nunieh did not speak out until the period the senate is probing the NDDC, insisted that he is contented with his wife.

Boyfriend to a female staff of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Miss Sophia Phillips Horsefall, and two others were, yesterday, arraigned at a Port Harcourt magistrate’s court by Department of State Services, DSS, for stabbing her to death after she had refused to make him, the boyfriend, her next-of-kin to her bank account as well as her refusal to give him one million (N1 million) he had demanded from her.

The accused, Sotonye Martin, Innocent Oluche and Wachukwu Ugochukwu committed the murder on November 8 this year.
