Bristow Helicopters Sacks 100 Pilots




The management of Bristow Helicopters Limited has terminated the appointment of 100 pilots.

This comes barely 24 hours after Nigerian airline, Air Peace, sacked over 70 pilots citing COVID-19 crisis.

The aviation company in a statement on Tuesday said those sacked comprised both Nigerian nationals and expatriates working with the company.

Air Peace sacks 70 pilots, cuts salaries by 40%





A Nigerian airline, Air Peace, has sacked over 70 pilots across its fleet.

It also reduced staff salaries by up to 40 per cent.

A member of the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers disclosed this to one of our correspondents, craving anonymity.

The source said the number of sacked pilots was between 70 and 75 in total.

Police visited his £3.5million mansion after The Sun newspapers posted pictures on Sunday August 2, showing the crowded party he organized, flouting social distancing rules.

His son Arron was celebrating his 21st birthday and each party guest could have been fined £100 by police as indoor social visits have been banned across the UK over a spike in Covid-19 cases.

The Lagos State Government has introduced some measures and conditions that must be met/fulfiled by all religious centres and places of worships that are planning to reopen, following further relaxation of lockdown.

These measures were contained in a press statement that was issued by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. TheLagos State Governor on Saturday, August 1, during his 17th briefing on the state’s COVID-19 response, announced the reopening of worship centres with effect from August 7th. Now, the Lagos State Government has specified that the following conditions must be met for worship centres that are planning to open;

Ignore Lagos govt’s directive, don’t reopen – Pastor Tunde Bakare warns churches



Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC) has advised churches to ignore the Lagos State Government’s directive to reopen on Sunday, August 9.

Bakare, during an online sermon on Sunday, queried the decision to reopen the worship centres when the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said that the COVID-19 pandemic would peak in Nigeria in August.

The cleric advised worshippers not to allow any religious leader or government official to lead them like sheep to the slaughter house.

Lagos govt closes isolation centres as COVID-19 cases reduce




The Lagos State Government has announced the closure of the Eti-Osa Isolation Center in the state.

The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced this during the 17th update on the management of coronavirus in the state, NAN reports.

According to the governor, “Some of the isolation centres now have less than 20 per cent of occupancy.”

He also stated that the Agidingbi Isolation Centre would also be closed and patients relocated to a large capacity centre – Indo-Centre in the Anthony area, which would soon be inaugurated.

LAGOS STATE GIVES DATE FOR OPENING OF CHURCHES, MOSQUES



Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered the re-opening of places of worship in Lagos, starting from Aug 7.The Governor also increases public gatherings capacity from 20 to 50 people.

The Governor disclosed this during a briefing on COVID-19 at the Lagos House in Marina area of the state.
While mosques will be reopened next week Friday, the governor said churches will follow suit on Sunday, August 9.

FG lifts ban on airline that flew Naira Marley during lockdown



The federal government has lifted the ban placed on the Executive Jets Services following months of COVID-19 lockdown.

The private airline was suspended indefinitely by the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, for violating the licence given to it to operate a flight from Lagos to Abuja and back to Lagos.

The company had conveyed musician, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and ex-BB Naija housemate, Kim Oprah, to Abuja for a concert.

COVID-19: Gov. Fayemi Tests Positive



Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has tested positive for Coronavirus.

The governor, who announced this via his verified twitter handle said he has gone into isolation.

59 NFL players test positive for Coronavirus



The NFL Players' Association (NFLPA) has confirmed 59 players have tested positive for Coronavirus as of July 22.

Initially, the NFLPA said 95 players had tested positive, but the players union amended the number on their website on Tuesday evening and said the previous number included all known positives across the league, including staff.

Madagascar hospitals reach full capacity as Covid-19 cases surge



Public hospitals in Madagascar have reportedly reached full capacity and will only admit patients with severe symptoms of Coronavirus as cases surge in the Indian Ocean island nation.

The Bloomberg news portal reports that five public hospitals in the capital Antananarivo had already announced that they could no longer cope with the influx of patients.
