Borno Governor furious with Military after ambush of his convoy by Boko Haram



Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum on Wednesday expressed his frustration over the commitment of the Military authorities to clear Boko Haram insurgents from Baga town in Kukawa local government area of the state.

He expressed his frustration following an assault on his convoy by suspected members of the Boko Haram group on his way from Baga.

Baga town is approximately 196 km from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State

Borno To Close IDP Camps In May 2017 - Gov. Shettima

The Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, says all Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camps in the state would be closed down by May 29, 2017.

Shettima told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Maiduguri, the state has nearly two million displaced persons.

He said the government had placed priority on the reconstruction of communities destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents, to facilitate the return of IDPs to their towns and villages.

“We have reconstructed Bama by 25 per cent; my target is to reach 50 per cent by the end of this year and 75 per cent by first quarter of 2017.

Soldier Killed By Boko Haram In Borno (Photo )

It was reported that troops carrying out clearance operations on suspected Boko Haram terrorists hideouts in Talala and Ajigin, southern part of Borno State, were ambushed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists at Ugundiri village, Damboa Local Government Area, Borno State, while returning to base after clearance operations on Saturday, Oct 29th.

Boko Haram Ambush Military Escort, Kills Six Civilians

The Nigerian Army yesterday said suspected Boko Haram militants foraging for food, ambushed troops of the Operation Lafiya Dole escorting commercial vehicles from Damboa to Maiduguri at Sanda general area, Borno State.
A statement from army spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman said : “Unfortunately, five civilians lost their lives at the incident and another died on the way to hospital. Three soldiers also sustained injuries.”

Boko Haram attack leaves 8 dead in Borno

No fewer than eight people were killed outside a church in Kwamjilari village, about 30 kilometers east of Chibok town in Borno state yesterday Sunday September 18th. The sect members carried out the attack after the church members had finished their Sunday service. They set fire on homes and destroyed fields of maize.

IDPs Return Home In Borno To Celebrate Sallah

Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Konduga Local Government of Borno State have returned home after about three years of residing in refugee camps in Maiduguri.

Governor Kashim Shettima urged them to be law abiding while at home. He added that the action was aimed at allowing the IDPs celebrate Sallah in their homes.

Six people have been killed after two suicide bombers attacked the Damboa central mosque in Borno state early this morning. According to a statement by the acting director of public relations of the Nigerian Army, Sani Usman, the bomb attacks took place at about 5am

More power and grace to our military men who have laid down their lives for the security of the country. The gallant Nigerian soldier Henry Edobor -who celebrated his birthday on a 'low-key' few months back at the battlefield -escaped death yesterday following a battle with Boko Haram insurgents far in the northeast. He sustained only a minor injury after his right ear was grazed by a bullet during gun battle.

Twitter user Ibrahim claimed that food items donated to IDP in Borno State are being repackaged and sold by SEMA. Again, it could be that they are selling them to generate money. NEMA in response, asked for further information in order to launch an investigation.

Army arrest 13 year old girl for spying for Boko Haram

Defence Hqs Special Forces of the Nigerian Army Unit in Gwoza, Borno State, have arrested a 13-year-old girl for spying on the military formation for the members of Boko Haram, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has reported.

A security source said the soldiers who picked up the girl were said to be stunned when they found an AK 47 assault rifle in her residence.
It was further gathered that the girl led the soldiers to three other girls who were also said to have been recruited by Boko Haram to spy on military formations.
However, the source did not say whether the soldiers found any lead in the residents of the other girls said to be undergoing interrogation.
