ISSUES: Coalition of Benue South Youth Assembly Affirm The Position Of 2019 Senatorial Zoning To Old Oju

The Idoma National Youth Forum in its meeting held on Sunday 20th August at Government Model Secondary School in Otukpo Benue State has condemned the
continues marginalization of old Oju (The Igede’s) in the State particularly the senatorial position which has often time since inception of Benue state been enjoyed by the old Otukpo and old Okpokwu  respectively.

Addressing newsmen in Otukpo at St. Pauls Secondary School, on August 25th the president of coalition of Benue South Youth Assembly Comrade Oche Peter accept the claims of the Idoma National Youth Forum, according to him the old Okpokwu has benefited with their son Ameh Ebute and  Chief Stephen Lawani while the old Otukpo has much enjoyed same for over 18 years with Sen. David Mark till date.
Comrade Oche decries the above and appeal that the old Oju should be given a fair opportunity to serve in the position of the senatorial seat in the forth coming 2019 Benue South Election in pursuit of fair democracy and equity to ensure  peaceful promotion of unity amongst all without marginalization or exclusion of any kind.
Below is the communique issued at the end of it’s general Assembly Meeting which
constitutes the Idoma, Igede, Utonkon and Akweya Youth in attendance;
1. That the Senate of Benue South Senatorial District be zoned to the old Oju division in 2019.
2. That the old Okpokwu and old Otukpo have enjoyed the Senatorial seat right from the days of the creation of Benue State.
3. That in pursuit of the Idoma political position  in the present Benue State, it is appropriate for the Senatorial seat to be officially zone to the Igede people which shall prove our equalization in an egalitarian society like Benue State to enable us further pursue the governorship seat of the State 2023.
5. That it will amount to injustice if we continue to exclude the old Oju from the political calculation of the Senatorial seat.
6. The entire Igede people are advised to source for a credible candidate who shall fill in the Senatorial seat in 2019.
7. That young men and women of credible character of the Idoma extraction should fully participate in political activities in support of the choice made by our igede people.
8. That this communique is made for the interest of the existing peace in Idoma land and to further maintain it.
