Victims Deserve What They Get – Suspected Fraudster .

Four people, including a 65-year-old man, have been arrested for alleged defrauding unsuspecting members of the public. The suspects have been identified as Segun Adesoji, a shrine owner, Mudasiru Somonu, Sakiratu Olayinka Aniyikaye, a woman and Jogunmola Sunday.

They were arrested by policemen attached to the Zonal Intervention Squad (ZIS), Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos State. The suspects were grabbed after a victim reported to the police that he was swindled. The police raided the shrine and arrested the four suspects.

The police also recovered fake currency, one Honda Pilot SUV car, a Toyota Sienna car and some statues. Others looked remorseful for their crime, but Adesoji was unrepentant. According to him, those he and members of syndicate had defrauded, got what they deserved. He described such victims as greedy.

He explained that he started defrauding members of the public to make ends meet. His words: "People who fall for our tricks are greedy. Many of them come to us, looking for charms to get promotion and to be catapulted into wealth. They are ready to pay any amount for charms. I decided to go into this to make ends meet.

They deserve what they got." The Assistant-Inspector General of Police (AIG), in charge of Zone 2, Police Command, Onikan Lagos, Mr. Kayode Aderanti, said: "On January 12, acting on credible intelligence, a team of ZIS operatives trailed and arrested a gang of four, including a woman, who specialised in hypnotising and defrauding their victims.

They were arrested in their shrine in Aiyedire Local Government Area of Osun State, right at the point of obtaining the sum of N3.5 million from a victim.

They had earlier defrauded another victim N3.5million in Abeokuta, Ogun State." The oldest among the suspect, Baba Sumonu, 65, said "I'm a carpenter. I went to the shrine to work and met some men there. "They gave me some clothes to wear and lectured me on how to pretend to be a good herbalist.

I was pretending to be an herbalist when the police stormed the shrine and arrested me." The only woman in the gang, Aniyikaye, said: "I was employed to behave as a rich
