Rivers State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mrs Tonye Briggs Oniyide says the hosting of the 2016 edition of the AMAA awards in Port Harcourt will further cement the bond of unity existing among the people of the state.
Mrs Oniyide said this today shortly after inspecting the venues earmarked for the hosting of the events in Port Harcourt.
The Commissioner explained that it has always being the culture of the people of Rivers State to live together happily and welcome their guests with warmth, emphasizing that '' during this period that we are hosting the world at AMAA, we will also demonstrate how well we co-exist.
On some posts allegedly emanating from the social media about violent crimes in Port Harcourt she said '' these are posts concocted to achieve mischief"" as Port Harcourt was peaceful.

You can guess what their aim is but the people of Rivers State live in peace, she noted while calling on people to encourage peaceful coexistence at all times.

The Commissioner said those peddling falsehood about the state of insecurity in the state were either ill informed or doing so for some self serving reasons.

We live happily here and we are sure that our visitors will meet us and see us in our usual hospitable best, she concluded.

It would be recalled that some social media sites have been peddling falsehood about the state of insecurity in the state, citing some mundane travel advisory and some made up stories as cases in point but it's all falsehood as nothing of such nature has ever happened in Port Harcourt .
